So recently, my skin has improved leaps and bounds in terms of acne and texture. Fyi, I have dry, acne prone skin and have eczema.
Unfortunately, I can’t find pictures of my skin at its absolute worst, but believe me, it was red and painful all over. In the first picture, I was already pretty pleased with my skin. There was at least 80% less acne then compared to 1-2 years before that. The natural light also helps to mask some of the redness. But in the second picture, which is from yesterday, there is almost no active acne (minor scarring in some areas though, which I’m hopeful will fade). The texture of my skin has gone from very bumpy to pretty smooth. I am so happy with my skin currently!!
I have a pretty simple skin care routine, mostly because I’m lazy and don’t find that extra products help. The key is finding a face wash that is not too harsh, and a moisturizer that is not too heavy. For me, washing my face once a day is enough but I moisturize as often as necessary. Do not skip moisturizer; I’ve found that it helps reduce the chances of scarring! Masks are nice, but I’ve found that they are not necessary unless I’m experiencing a breakout (usually from stress haha).
Products that I’ve been using:
- St. Ives Green Tea Scrub: every other day. It works really well at reducing oil production, but if you have sensitive skin, it might be too harsh.
- Cerave Moisturizing Lotion for Normal to Dry Skin: Every night, and sometimes in the morning. I used to use the facial one, but since switching to the body version, I’ve noticed no difference and it’s much cheaper! It’s also good for my eczema, which pops up wherever it wants.
- Fresh Rose Face Mask: 1-2x a week. I really love this mask. It’s gentle and great at restoring moisture especially in the dry winter months.
- GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Mask: occasionally, more of a pamper product really… but it has made my skin a little less bumpy.
So that is it! Let me know about your favourite products or if you have any questions. If you are on an acne skin journey, it can and WILL get better! 🙂
